My six year old Finnian has always been good about helping around the house when asked. Lately, though, he’s spending way too much time on the computer and I’m having to repeat myself over and over to get him to do anything.
Chris and I have decided to try giving him a small computer allowance with the opportunity to earn more time by doing chores. We still have some details to work out. The biggest is determining which chores are eligible for earning computer time and which aren’t. Some things, like picking up after yourself, are just normal things that have to be done as part of a family and he shouldn’t be “paid” to do them.
What chores do you think are appropriate for a six year old? Which are non-negotiable and which should be eligible for his allowance?
