This Weeks Featured Artist: Ana, creator of Toil and Trouble

Name and Business name:

My name is Ana, and my shop is Toil & Trouble.

Tell us a little about yourself and your business:
I work at an architecture firm during the day, go to graduate school for architecture at night, teach martial arts twice a week, and manage my etsy shop in my (non) free time. I learned to knit a few years ago, and fell in love with it. There was always so much I wanted to create, but I never knew what to do with it. One day I came across Etsy, and Toil & Trouble was born.

What made you get started in your business?:
I’m not sure there’s a good answer to this. I have always had the impulse to create and put my work out there for everyone to see. As a child, I always thought I would be an illustrator or a painter, but life took me to knitting instead. The business just evolved naturally, it wasn’t an active pursuit.

Anything else you’d like to share:
I recently became a founding member of a new Etsy team called S.O.S.. This is a group of Etsians who get together to give each other support and encouragement.

Tell us about your favorite item currently listed in your shop:

My favorite item right now is the newest one, my Sweet Talk Capelet: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23286685
I tried to pick a cheerful yet bold color combination to create a piece that would make a statement. It actually took me a couple of weeks to post it because I seriously considered keeping it.

My Favorite From Toil & Trouble:
I love Toil & Trouble‘s No Fuss Cowl. It looks cozy without a lot of bulk, and the color would easily work with just about everything. Great for people like me who get chilled easily or anyone wanting to add a little something extra to your outfit.
