This week’s featured artist: Carol, creator of Quirky’nBerkeley

Name and Business name: My name is Carol and my business name is Quirky’nBerkeley

Tell us a little about yourself and your business: I live in Berkeley with Rosie the Wonder Dog and Twink the Monster Kitten. I’ve been making handcrafted cards for about ten years, now.

I make handcrafted cards mostly, although I also sell handmade books, teeny tiny envelopes and origami boxes from time to time — all paper crafts. I make them because I really enjoy paper. But I make cards also because of the pleasure a handwritten note can bring to someone’s life. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t get a thrill out of finding a hand-addressed piece of mail in their box. Sometimes people tell me what they plan to do with the card that they’re sending, and it is always about giving and bringing someone else happiness at a very affordable price. Very satisfying.

What made you get started in your business?: I started out with one rubber stamp and now have about 800. I started making cards for friends who encouraged me to sell them.

Anything else you’d like to share: (This is a great place to share about any teams you’re in.) I’ve been selling on Etsy for about two and a half years. I’m a proud member of the California Crafters Club of Etsy (CCCOE), EtsyTwitter and EtsyGreetings.

Tell us about your favorite item currently listed in your shop: This is my favorite item, I think, because of the sentiment it expresses

My Favorite from Quirky’nBerkeley
: Quirky’nBerkeley offers so many beautiful cards that it was hard to pick a favorite. (I know I say that a lot, but it’s true. Etsy artists rock!) Her “Love and Chocolate” card stood out to me because really, who doesn’t need a little chocolate now and then. The box of chocolates is totally cute, too.

  1. I’m the proud owner of 2 of Carol’s lovely cards. They are well made and the sentiments she uses on them are often words of encouragement and hope. Good goin’ Quirk!!!

  2. Carol makes fabulous cards for any occasion. She’s my regular card shop. Thanks for featuring her!
