This Week’s Featured Artist: Iris Morrison creator of Warm ‘N Fuzzy Fiber Arts

Name and Business name: Iris Morrison, Warm ‘N Fuzzy Fiber Arts

Tell us a little about yourself and your business: I’ve been around on Earth for 46 years now…I’m married and a loving mom of a nine year old boy, professional fiber artist, hand-spinner, violin student. My Etsy shop is an on-line yarn store- I make handmade supplies for knitters, crocheters, etc; I also design & publish patterns and I teach fiber arts

What made you get started in your business?: I learned to knit and crochet when I was about 9 or 10 years old and I’ve always had a huge interest in heritage crafts and art ever since I was very little. When considering what type of business to start, it was a very natural choice.
Anything else you’d like to share: Giving back to my community has always been a natural part of being a fiber artist, so I make caps for the children going thru chemo treatment at Children’s Hospital and I’m the volunteer knitting teacher at my son’s elementary school- the children in the club always make blankets to donate to Project Linus, an organization of ‘blanketeers’ that donates blankets to comfort children in need.

Tell us about your favorite item currently listed in your shop: So many to chose from! My particular favorite at the moment would be the Bouquet of Roses, a handspun hand-dyed worsted weight wool

My favorite from Warm ‘N Fuzzy Fiber Arts: Warm ‘N Fuzzy Fiber Arts has so many beautiful things to offer that it was hard to choose just one. When I saw her Wild Side Collar, though, I totally knew which item I had to feature. The rich colors make the collar look like an expensive piece of jewelry and the edgy style is definitely not something you’d expect your grandma to make.
