This Week’s Featured Artist: Nichole Crawford, creator of Naturally Felt

Name and Business name: Nicole Crawford, Naturally Felt

Tell us a little about yourself and your business: I am an at-home mom with three adorable, active children: 2 1/2, 4 1/2, 6 1/2 I’m counting down the days till I can get my daughter in the business (she’s the 4 1/2)! Self taught I love to knit and sew! Ever since I was young I would always try to make what I wanted: dolls, cloths, you name it. For years I’ve enjoyed creating hand knit items as gifts for friends and family.

What made you get started in your business?: I was running out of people to make my slippers for and my dining room was overstuffed with supplies. I’ve always wanted to open my own Yarn/Knitting brick and mortar store. I had been thinking for a longtime the way to get started and keep overhead down was obviously online. Then one day I was watching Martha Stewart and she mentioned etsy. Pretty much the next day I opened shop!

Anything else you’d like to share: Proud member of Cafe Etsy Moms! One of my lunch totes was chosen as a finalist in the Etsy Handmade Kids Challenges, Accessory category. I really love this life! Such a good feeling when someone compliments you on your work!

Tell us about your favorite item currently listed in your shop: I really love all the lunch totes (go green) but if I had to choose something with Fall coming it would be my cozy slippers!

My Favorite from Naturally Felt: I love the pouches Nichole’s shop has to offer, but this one is my favorite. I love the the colors and stripes, and the earthy look that knitting gives the outer layer of the pouch.
